Back to School Meeting Tri-City Home Educators have planned many new classes and events for
the 2009-2010 school year. TCHE has also lowered enrollment fees in order to offer support to more local
families. Events planned are Geography and Science Fairs, Spelling Bee, History Night, Hayride,
Banquets, Track & Field, and Special Speakers. Some classes scheduled
are P.E., Theatre, 4-H, Circuitry, Oklahoma History, Field Trips, High School Geography, Teen
gatherings, and others. For more info on these, be sure to attend the Back-to-School meeting Monday, August
10, 7pm at in the Children’s Sanctuary at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle.
The meeting will also introduce New Presidents and lots of Door Prizes will be offered. Exhibitors

Homeschooling
101 & 102 meetings Tri-City Home Educators will be offering a special seminar. Homeschooling 101
will be Thursday, August 20 at 6:45pm. They will help you answer the question “Is Homeschooling Right
for My Family?” and give reasons why a family might choose this path for education. During “Where
do we go from here?” at 8:00pm, we will touch on topics such as learning styles, curriculum,
record keeping, scheduling, testing, Oklahoma laws, and more will be covered. This will be followed with
a Q & A time. (You may also feel free to come to only one of these seminars if the other does not interest you.) This
is open to the public, not just our members. This seminar will be in the Children’s Sanctuary at

Homeschooling through High School On Tuesday, August 25 at 7pm, we
will have a special speaker come and explain “Homeschooling Through High School”. Mrs. Cindy Nicolai of OCHEC
will present the requirements and some of the many options for completing them for testing and graduation. She will also address
preparing for college and/or career. The second half of this seminar will be Q & A. We will also have information and
handouts from various colleges available. Even if your child is only in 7th grade, we encourage
you to come get this information sooner than later. And, BRING YOUR TEEN – this is their future we’re
talking about and much of this will be their decision! This is open to any homeschool family or those just
